Farewell

We never want to let go of them, those we love. How could it be any different than that?  We loved them, hold them still ...

I only know

I only know it's you,
at the heart,
in the depth,
through the frozen,
peeking through,
budding forth
irresistibly.

The greening.

and do you know,
no, really know?

that beyond the sticky door of past betrayals
is the most amazing stretch of blue and green.
Moist underfoot, crisp air, sun shining straight
into the innermost, trapped down, broken heartedness of you.
Inviting you to feel, yes feel this new time.
Take a step, wriggle your toes, run.

Gracious God,
Be with us as we step out in new ways.
Help us to listen for the sound of your voice in unexpected places.
Draw us closer to you and to all those in need of love and compassion.
Only you can bring true peace to our troubled world.

Be with us,
embolden us,
call us forth in truth.

Amen.

It's enough.
I am enough.
And so I let it go,
watching as your rivers burst forth with truth.

In you my heart trusts
and it hurts and heals,
opening out towards the path
before which I bow.

It's time.

In the midst of the turmoil
I sense the trace of something forming,
slowly, decidely, redeemed.

The glimmer of breezes
blowing transparent through my life,
bringing wholeness, daring trust.

Yes. Daring to trust the unfolding
of our great desires,
running thick with hope for what will be
in the coming times.

The beginning again.

'In out of the way places of the heart,
Where your thoughts never think to wander,
This beginning has been quietly forming,
Waiting until you were ready to emerge.'
John O'Donohue Benedictus
Cenacle
Cenacle is the place of 'emergence'. Cenacle space, heartspace ... which holds and encourages the trickles of newness forming unseen and unnoticed in the centre of occupied lives.

'Somewhere, out at the edges, the night
Is turning and the waves of darkness
Begin to brighten the shore of dawn

The heavy dark falls back to earth
And the freed air goes wild with light,
The heart fills with fresh, bright breath
And thoughts stir to give birth to colour'

John O'Donohue Eternal Echoes
